Amherst Railroad Society’s hobby show

On January 30 and 31, WLPA displayed a table amongst other railroad hobbyists at the Big E’s Better Living Center in West Springfield, MA. Special thanks to Barbara Carlson, Kathy Bloom, Neal Cunningham, Rosemary Hogan, Janet Ramsay, Laurie Ramsay, Barbara Schley, David Porowski, Chris Morris and Cindi and Mickey Danyluk who staffed our table. Phil Wooding of Southington a Connecticut collector again surprised us by presenting us with some old post cards of the station and a number of old photos of the station were purchased from a vendor. Each year since 2005, WLPA has received a Preservation Grant of $1,000 from our friends at Amherst Railway Society, to be applied to the restoration costs of the historic train station on Main Street in Windsor Locks. A Grant Application has been filed for 2010.
