Volunteer!

Windsor Locks Train Station, March 2006
We are always looking for more volunteers to help us with raising money for the Save The Train Station project and our educational efforts.

We need volunteers to help with many aspects of raising money, planning events, assisting with educational programs, and much more!

We welcome your HELP!

Help Wanted!

Wether it's the annual railroad show at the Big "E", our annual Flea Market, or any of the other events we sponsor, we're always looking for people interested in helping our cause.

The 2010 Flea Market
The 6th Annual Preservation Flea Market will be Saturday, May 15th, from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the parking lot of the Windsor Locks Town Hall, Church St., Windsor Locks. The flea market features 40+ vendors with a variety of items and great finds as well as our own sale which features antiques, collectibles, household items, glassware, furniture and more!

Space Rentals are available for $15.00 in advance per space (Non Refundable). Space rentals paid the day of the market will be $20.00. Rain date is Saturday, May 22nd.

The Association is currently seeking donations for our market. Due to the quantity of donations we get each year, we are unable to take certain items. We are looking for clean, gently used or new items for our sale. We are unable to take books, clothing, toys and some glassware. Also, this year, all items must be dropped off as we are unable to provide pick up service.

For more information about donations of time or goods, or renting a space at this years event, please contact Barbara at (860) 623-0317.

A Few Facts

The Historic Windsor Locks Passenger Train Station was built in 1875.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 for its 100th anniversary.

Ella Tambussi Grasso, the first woman Governor in US History, boarded the train at this very station to attend her inauguration in Hartford.

The station was an important part of the town not only as a means of transportation but for economic growth.

The building, located on Route 159, is in danger of being lost to vandalism and neglect.
